Technical Writer

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled technical writer to join our growing organization. In this position, you will create easy-to-understand user content and product documentation to increase product clarity, performance, and usability. You will join a team of talented engineers who work collaboratively to develop product manuals, spec sheets and service bulletins for customers and end users of our products.

Principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Determine the needs of end users for technical documentation
  • Work with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions
  • Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding
  • Select appropriate medium for message or audience, such as manuals or online videos.
  • Standardize content across platforms and media
  • Gather usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers
  • Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
  • Collaborate with translators as necessary to convert writing into a variety of languages
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager

Ideal Candidate will possess the following skill/qualities:

  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Solidworks and/or Solidworks Illustrator helpful
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to write explanatory and procedural documents for multiple audiences
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Communications, Information Technology or Industrial Technology
  • 3-5 years’ experience performing similar duties in a capital equipment manufacturing environment
  • Ability to explain concepts clearly
