Sales Manager

Position Summary:

LDJ Manufacturing is home to the Thunder Creek Equipment brand of diesel fuel and service trailers. LDJ is a family-owned company, with strong Midwest roots and values, and a mission to develop, manufacture, and market innovative products that provide value to our customers in the agricultural, construction, and oil industries.

The Sales Manager position, reporting to the company President, will lead employed sales representatives and independent manufacturer representatives across the USA and Canada. The Sales Manager will hire, supervise, develop and mentor the sales team. A critical piece of the Sales Manager’s responsibilities will be developing the long-term sales strategy and organization structure. The Sales Manager will be expected to lead the sales team in a way that will optimize sales, market penetration and profitability. The Sales Manager will be part of the Executive Management team and will participate in the developing the strategic direction of the Company.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set and execute the strategy for sales and market penetration growth in Agricultural and Industrial market segments
  • Set and execute the strategy for sales channel approach in specific markets and territories
  • Consistently lead the sales team to deliver exceptional results in alignment with profitable growth
  • Build and lead a high-performing team. Actively attract, develop and engage top talent with a demonstrated commitment to the learning and development of others.
  • Develop and execute sales plans and forecasts by industry, territory and product
  • Performance management by setting revenue targets, key performance indicators, and establishing reporting that provides visibility and holds the sales team accountable for delivering goals that support the overall sales objectives
  • Partner closely with Marketing to ensure the sales and marketing strategies and programs are aligned to achieve documented goals and forecasts
  • Collaborate closely with other functions and support the S&OP process to achieves focus, alignment and synchronization among all functions of the organization
  • Participate in and promote central marketing activities such as corporate sponsored farm shows, training sessions, factory visits, etc.
  • Support sales initiatives with Key and National Account customers.
  • Periodically accompany salesman on dealer and customer visits, and to support strategic equipment demonstrations
  • Emphasize prospecting initiatives to enhance market penetration and sales growth
  • Manage CRM with sales team to deliver business intelligence and assure timely lead follow-up
  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure compliance of company controls and policies.
  • Prepare periodic sales reports and provide updates for the Senior Management Team and the Sales Team
  • Develop and coordinate sales training programs for the sales team and dealers

Travel

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time with a valid driver’s license. Passport will be required for possible international travel.

Ideal Candidate will possess the following skill/qualities:

  • Experience in developing and managing an outside sales team
  • Experience in pioneering new, innovative products into markets
  • Background in Ag and/or Construction machinery is a plus, preferably at a manufacturer level
  • Experience with dealer networks
  • Highly proven interpersonal skills
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Customer focused
  • Confident and positive attitude
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to empower and inspire accountability while setting high standards and expectations
  • CRM management experience, Salesforce CRM experience preferred
  • Excellent negotiation skills and expertise knowledge in finance close sales
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Process-oriented mindset
  • Highly proficient computer skills using Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM software
  • Valid drivers license, CDL endorsement is preferred

Education & Experience:

  • Five + years of outside B2B territory sales experience
  • Five + years in a managerial role
