Fabrication Supervisor

This position, reporting to the Vice President, Manufacturing supervises and coordinates machine shop operations and fabrication activities, while managing costs and expenses through process efficiencies. The Supervisor makes sure the proper equipment is available and ready to meet production demands.

Principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Principal accountabilities require you to analyze and adjust work schedules, solve production problems, handle quality issues and manage internal customer interactions. Personnel matters will also be your responsibility. You must plan for employee training and skill development and handle disciplinary issues as well as set performance goals and project deadlines that align with the company’s larger goals.

  • Assign work to employees, track progress and provide constructive feedback on work assignments
  • Address problems with work quality, issues between employees and other concerns in an effective, timely manner
  • Ensure employees adhere to company policies, safety and legal regulations
  • Train employees to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Conduct performance reviews, motivate team members and create strategies to boost productivity
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for current and new work process
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50lbs.
  • Any additional duties assigned by the Vice President, Manufacturing.

Desired qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have experience organizing work groups, coaching employees, monitoring progress, enforcing rules and ensuring quality and safety compliance. You must possess strong communication and leaderships skills as well as the ability to resolve workplace issues effectively. The Supervisor will be excited about guiding, training and supporting their team members and is highly motivated to help LDJ fulfill its larger mission. The successful candidate will be people-centered, supportive and flexible to get the most of his/her team. You also need a thorough understanding of machining processes, equipment technology, shop procedures and how to read mechanical drawings. In addition, the Fabrication Supervisor will:

  • Know how to operate; press brake, machining centers, structural saw, shear, edge former, flat roller, tube bender and lathe
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships, which encourage openness with internal customers and peers
  • Deliver accurate, professional and error-free parts and sub-assemblies in a timely manner
  • Professionally communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Preferred education & experience:

  • Requires 3-5 years’ previous job experience as a fabrication/Machine Shop Supervisor in a metal manufacturing environment. A Bachelor’s degree in business is a plus.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and other software products including, but not limited to: Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and Power Point. Working knowledge of the internet.
  • Previous experience utilizing MRP/ERP systems.
